The massive use of plastic continues to have a negative impact on our planet, despite the alarms raised by the world of scientific research, which points to solutions to recycle increasing quantities and proposes alternative solutions to the use of this material. It is this theme that is at the center of "Plastic fantastic," the documentary directed by German filmmaker Isa Willinger, which will be screened on Thursday, March 21, at 8 p.m. with free admission at the Sant'Anna School, in the Aula Magna in Pisa, as part of the "EELISA Loves Arts" campaign, conducted in collaboration with the "Sustainable Progress Film Festival" in Madrid, to increase the visibility and awareness of the European university alliance EELISA in spaces outside academia.

The screening is jointly organized by Sant'Anna School and Scuola Normale Superiore, the universities that, for Italy, join the EELISA alliance. The documentary has been awarded the "EELISA Special Mention," an award given annually since 2022 to the film capable of promoting themes related to the mission of the European university alliance EELISA such as sustainability, impact entrepreneurship, ethics and technology, and offering a special vision on gender and inclusion, cooperation and bridge-building between the sciences, humanities and the arts.

Following the screening, a discussion time is planned with director Isa Willinger, with the participation of Lorenzo Bartalesi, Associate Professor of Aesthetics at the Scuola Normale Superiore, and Zoi Salta, Assistant Professor in Chemistry of the Environment and Cultural Heritage at the Scuola Normale Superiore.
